Government will deal with marauding gangs in Mt. Elgon – CS

The Devolution Cabinet Secretary (CS), Eugene Wamalwa has issued a stern warning to marauding criminal gangs in Mt. Elgon region.

Speaking at Mabanga Farmers Training College in Bungoma County during the inauguration of Wilson Khaemba as Principal Chief, Wamalwa warned that the gangs would face the full force of the law.

The criminal gangs have in the recent past been maiming, killing and extorting money from the residents with impunity.

The Devolution Cabinet Secretary told village elders, Chiefs and their assistants to identify and flush out criminals from the community.

The government can’t accept afew elements to cause havoc in Mt. Elgon,we are going to ruthlessly deal with gangs causing insecurity, we can’t allow them to continue terrorising peace loving Kenyans, he

warned.

The CS pledged to empower chiefs and their assistants with motorbikes to ease their movement and tackle insecurity in Bungoma County.

He called on the area residents to volunteer information that will help the government to nab criminals behind the attacks.

We have information that some political leaders are arming youths to fight on their behalf. We will deal with them accordingly, Wamalwa warned.

He said the government will deal with them according to the law, regardless of their positions in society.
