The government will continue to carry out mitigation activities across the floods affected parts of the country.
So far the flood which has affected 32 counties has seen 132 lives lost and 222,456 people displaced.
In a statement on the prevailing floods on Wednesday evening, Principal Secretary, State Department of Interior (PS), Eng. Karanja Kibicho said the government has embarked on rescuing marooned citizens, distributing food and water and was also restoring water and sanitation systems to ensure hygienic conditions.
The government has so far distributed food worth Sh. 600 million as well as large quantities of essential medicine to prevent and contain outbreak of waterborne diseases, Eng. Kibicho said.
The PS explained that since the onset of the rainy season in March this year, government agencies have been working round the clock to rescue flood victims as well as provide food and medicine to all the affected.
Eng. Kibicho urged Kenyans in flood prone areas to exercise extreme care due to heavy rains currently.
