The government has donated equipment worth over sh 200 million shillings to the Ugenya Technical Training Institute in Siaya County.
According to the principal of the institute, Dr. John Abuto, the facility, constructed by the national government was set to admit its first batch of students in May this year following the acquisition of training equipment.
Speaking over the weekend, Abuto said that construction of the first phase of the project was already complete adding that the management had already settled for the courses to be offered.
He said that the agricultural engineering will be flagship course. Others such as building and construction, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and others will be introduced as time goes by.
The principal challenged youths from Ugenya constituency to take advantage of the institute and acquire technical skills that would help them to earn a living in future.
Speaking during the delivery of the equipment, local leaders led by area member of the county assembly, Fredrick Opang’a and nominated MCA, Ben Adala assured political goodwill and urged the youths to enroll for courses that will make them self reliant.
