Galana Teachers Training College (TTC) in Magarini Sub County Friday received its registration certificate from Kilifi governor Mr. Amason Kingi.
Handing over the certificate to the college management during the first graduation ceremony Friday, at the college grounds at Galukani area in Magarini, the governor called on the college management to appropriately use the funds that would be set aside for the institution.
Addressing the gathering during the ceremony, Kingi blamed the ministry of education for allegedly branding school children of Coast region as lazy in education.
He added, learners in coast region have been disadvantaged because they are denied adequate teachers, while those who are there are unnecessarily transfered saying, this makes it difficult for them to compete effectively with those from other regions who are fully equiped.
Speaking at the ceremony, Kilifi south MP Ken Chonga said despite the region having established tertiary learning institutions such Pwani University and Technical Univervity of Mombasa, poverty and early pregnancies still deny the coast children the benefit of acquiring higher education.
Area MP Engineer Michael Kingi, said Magarini CDF will construct a S1million hostel for students at the Teachers College to enable it attract students from all parts of the Country.
