Residents of Ndumberi location, Kiambu County have benefited from a free medical camp, courtesy of the Beyond Zero campaign mobile clinic initiative.
About 500 residents who availed themselves at Ndumberi stadium benefited from testing and counselling on HIV/aids, family planning, blood pressure, nutrition, diabetes body mass index as well as ante-natal and post-natal information.
The main aim of the mobile clinic is to offer free medical services to residents deep in the interior at their door steps, irrespective of their age, gender or economic status.
The medical camps have been on-going and the initiative will cover at least 60 wards, 12 sub-counties in the region.
The function was graced by the wife to Kiambu governor, Susan Waititu who called on the residents to appreciate the kind gesture by coming out in large numbers to receive medical attention.
Mrs. Waititu advised residents to register with NHIF and pay their monthly payments promptly to enable them offset hospital bills without financial stress, whenever diseases strike their families.
She also decried the high rate at which HIV/Aids is spreading among secondary and university students saying everyone was obligated to know their status.
