Muslims attending Eid ul-Fitr prayers at Mombasa County Stadium will be provided with free transport.
The Eid celebrations will either be on July 17 or 18, depending on the sighting of the moon.
The date will be announced by the Chief Kadhi.
The Matatu Owners Association at the Coast has set aside 15 vehicles.
The MOA Coast coordinator Salim Mbarak said worshippers will be picked and dropped from five stations.
These are Likoni Nakumatt, KFA Mwembe Tayari, Mtwapa, Bamburi matatu stage and Coast Bus Changamwe.
“Three matatus will be assigned to each station” from 6:30am, a statement from Mbarak said on Monday.
“This is to ensure that the worshippers get to the stadium on time for the prayers,” Mbarak said.
The prayer will be at 7:30am.
Stickers labelled ‘Matatu Owners Association free transport for Eid prayers’ will be put on the matatus.
Each matatu will have a member from the organising committee.
