POLICE in Nakuru town shot dead four armed thugs at Flamingo estate on Tuesday night.
Speaking on the phone yesterday, Nakuru police boss Bernard Kioko said the four were spotted by the public at 9.30pm and police were informed immediately.
“We have been told the suspects were stopping vehicles around Kivumbini and robbing passengers of cash and other valuables,” Kioko said.
He said the thugs defied and opened fire at Flying Squad officers. The officers returned fire, killing four of them on the spot.
Those killed included one woman.
Nakuru district criminal investigation officer James Lelia said the four are among a group of criminals that has been attacking traders and matatus plying the Eldoret, Kaloleni and Flamingo routes.
Kioko said they recovered one AK47 rifle with six bullets, two toy pistols and police uniforms.
