A vehicle assigned to Bungoma County Deputy Governor, Prof. Charles Ngome was involved in an accident at Bukembe Market on Bungoma-Webuye highway.
According to the Bungoma County Executive Committee member of Health, Antony Walela, the vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner had just dropped the Deputy Governor at his official residence in Webuye town and was on its way back to Bungoma town at around 7:30pm, Wednesday March 14, 2018, when it rammed on a static cane tractor transporting cane to Nzoia Sugar Company.
Four people including the driver of the tractor were seriously injured and rushed to Bungoma West Hospital in Kanduyi and Bungoma County Referral Hospital for medication.
Paul Wafula, an eye witness revealed to KNA over the phone that the driver of the ill-fated County vehicle heading to Bungoma tried to overtake but rammed into an oncoming cane tractor.
Walela said the victims of the accidents may have sufferedserious injuries. Four ambulances rushed to the scene of the accidentand took the casualties to various medical facilities.
The accident caused a major traffic snarl-up on the busy Eldoret-Malaba Highway before the police arrived and cleared the way.
