Fire broke out in a dormitory at Nyabola secondary school in K’onwong’a in Rachuonyo sub county on Thursday and destroyed property of unknown value.
No student was injured during the fire as students had left for classes before the fire broke out.
Area Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), Ibrahim Hassan said more than 76 students were affected by the fire at the private school owned by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Hassan who spoke to KNA after touring the school said the cause of the fire could not be immediately established.
The DCC said police have launched investigation and taken samples from the burnt dormitory to unravel the cause of the fire.
He called on the students, parents and teachers to remain calm as police carryout investigation into the incident.
