Traders at Kiamaina trading center in Bahati constituency are counting losses after an early morning fire gutted their premises.
No one was injured in the 2 am fire suspected to have been caused by an electric fault.
Lilian Chege and Grace Wambui are among seven shop owners who lost all their stock in the fire.
The small scale traders lamented that their businesses destroyed by the fire were their only source of income and called on well-wishers to come to their rescue by supporting them to begin their businesses afresh.
Area Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri who visited the scene promised to help the traders re-establish their businesses but advised other traders in the area to be vigilant against people out to make illegal electrical connections to their premises saying such connections could trigger fires.
Ngunjiri said police and officers from the Kenya Power had started investigation to establish the cause of the fire to avert similar incidents in future.
