Fire destroys dormitory at Sagegi secondary

Property of unknown value was Tuesday morning destroyed by fire at Sagegi Secondary Shool,in Suna East constituency after a dormitory at the school caught fire.

The inferno broke out at 5am and razed the iron-sheet made structure which was accommodating 130 students since 2014.

Nothing was salvaged from the burning structure

School Principal Maurice Lango Oyugi said the fire broke out when the students had left for morning studies.

One student who was at the dormitory and was feeling unwell at the time of the fire outbreak escaped without any injuries.

Mr.Lango said all students’ propery including beds were destroyed completely in the incident.

He said the cause of the fire was yet to be established.

Officers from the Kenya Power Company arrived at the scene immediately the fire erupted and established that the there was not an electric fault.

The principal is appealing to the county and national governments to assist the school to reconstruct the gutted dormitory.
