Female army officer stabs colleague to death

Police in Ruiru are investigating an incident whereby a 23-year-old woman army officer from Kahawa Barracks in Nairobi,stabbed her male colleague to death at the neighbouring Kahawa Wendani estate after a quarrel on Thursday morning.

Elizabeth Otibine attached to signals section allegedly stabbed 28-year-old, Richard Atimondo Mokaya on the chest near the heart killing him instantly. The two resided outside the barracks.

Reports filed by Cpl. Rawlings Otieno, an officer from Kimbo Police Station in Ruiru Sub County, indicated that Mokaya was rushed to Kahawa Barracks hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to Ruiru OCPD, Isaac Thuranira, the body of Mokaya was moved to Forces Memorial Mashujaa mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Thuranira said police managed to recover the killer knife while the suspect was being held by military police at Kahawa barracks.

This comes barely days after a counseling centre was opened at Thika AP Chapel to deal with psychological issues affecting officers following an increase in cases where officers used official firearms to kill their loved ones, relatives, colleagues and themselves.
