A Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) candidate of Witharaga Mixed Secondary School in Migori County has gone missing a few days before completion of the national exams.
Martin Odhiambo went missing Tuesday evening while on his way to their home from school after having his night studies.
The School Principal, Gideon Odhiambo told journalists who visited school that they got information from a fellow female candidate from the same school that the missing student sent her a text message alleging that he had been abducted.
I am also following reports from his friend that the missing candidate was abducted and bundled into a Probox car which drove off to Ogwedhi around 10 kilometres away from his home, Odhiambo said.
The Principal added that Martin was one of the best candidates in the school and that they had high hopes of him doing well in the national exams since he had shown improved performance in the previous exams in the Suna East Sub County.
According to the head teacher the student missed his Christian Religious Education paper 11 (two) that he was to write on Wednesday.
He said that the police have the report of the alleged abduction and investigations are already underway to find him.
The student’s mother, Susan Adoyo Odhiambo said that her son left home at 8 p.m. on the material day and never came back.
She was later informed of her son’s alleged abduction by a female friend also a candidate who the missing student had sent the text message to; saying that he had been abducted by unknown people.
A neighbour, Samwel Owino confirmed that Martine went missing on Tuesday night on his way from studies that he always attended as their home did not have electricity to enable him study at night.
The Migori County Criminal Investigation Officer, Benedict Kigen said that the police are aware of the incident and have launched investigations.
