Confirming the incident Nyakach Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Henry Malova said the deceased Sypros Oywa was reportedly killed on Monday by her 24 year old grandson at their home.
According to family sources, the suspect who was in the company of two other men descended on his grandmother with a blunt object inflicting fatal injuries on her back.
The OCPD said police have launched investigations and a manhunt for the suspects who are still at large.
The body was moved to Nyakach Sub County Hospital for postmortem.
Kisumu County Police Commander John Kamau urged the public to involve respective authorities in solving disputes and avoid taking the law into their hands as it was unconstitutional.
Kamau cautioned boda boda operators against perpetrating mob justice saying the trend was worrying and would spin out control if not contained.
They should embrace other methods of dispute resolution and stir clear from violence. In case of an accident police officers are always on the ground and they are mandated to reign upon such situations, said Kamau.
He added that boda boda operators had leadership systems installed around the routes they plied which could be used to resolve disputes among them and the public.
