Wholesalers are packaging goods for their customers using cartons as effect of ban of plastics bags which kicked off Monday started being felt by many wholesalers in Nanyuki town.
Risper Akoth, a Manager of a local wholesale shop told KNA that they have been forced to use cartons for packaging milk for their customers.
However, many of our customers seemed prepared for the ban as many are coming with their own bags and alternative packaging materials, Akoth noted.
She also pointed out that they are being forced to package shopping for the students going back to school in their school bags.
A cross section of traders have supported the ban, saying it will improve the environment, adding that everything has its own advantages and disadvantages, while some feel they should have been given more time to comply to avoid losses incurred with the old stock of plastic bags.
