Ecobank’s insurance arm EcoInsurance has embarked on a campaign to grow the underwriting business through SME clients.
The bank plans education forums for its business clients to increase their uptake of insurance services.
Ecoinsurance agency’s principal officer Caroline Gathogo said SMEs have shown a lot of interest in the products that the bank is offering in both general and life.
“Since the launch of the insurance wing in June, there is growing interest among our clients who have been coming to our offices to ask about available insurance options,” she said after a meeting with SME clients.
The bank assured its clients that it will leverage on its financial position to offer better premiums for their customers.
“Due to economies of scale, we are able to negotiate better premiums for our clients rather than the option that customers get when they seek to buy insurance directly from insurance companies,” said Victor Mbaabu, the bank’s senior relationship manager-SME.
