A man was on Monday charged with defiling a 16 year old girl at Kahawa West in Kasarani Sub-county over the weekend.
Ken Omondi Ojwang who appeared before Kiambu Chief Magistrate (CM), Mrs.Patricia Gichohi was charged with committing the offence on August 27 this year contrary to section 3 (1) 4 of sexual offences Act No.3 of 2006.
He faced an alternative charge that on the same date, he unlawfully touched the private parts of the minor. When the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty and his case was set for hearing on September 28 and mention on 12 September.
The CM said the accused could be released on a Sh.200, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount.
Efforts by the accused to have the bond reduced were turned down as he was told the amount was equivalent to the offence facing him.
In the same court, Peter Kamau Wangare was also charged with defiling a 17 year old girl at Githurai 44. He was charged with committing the offence on August 12 this year.
He was released on a bond of Sh.200, 000 shillings with a surety of a similar amount. His case will be heard on September 28 and mentioned on September 12.
For the prosecution, Henry Kinyanjui said six witnesses were scheduled to testify against Ojwang while seven would testify against Kamau.
