The Samburu County Government has distributed 8, 000 bags of maize, beans and fat to more than 120, 000 families hit by effects of the drought in the region
The County Governor, Moses Lenolkulal called on the World Food Programme (WFP) and the national government to speed up supply of more food rations to the affected county residents.
Lenolkulal cited residents of Samburu North and East sub-counties as the most hit by the famine over the raging drought despite heavy rains in other parts of the country.
Speaking to journalists at Maralal town on Saturday, the Governor said his government was committed to ensuring that nobody dies over famine which has perennially affected the county.
Lenolkulal said the county government water boozers had been sent to the most affected areas to supply water to needy families.
On the issue of the October 26 repeat presidential poll, Lenolkulal called on the voters to get out in large number to vote for Jubilee government to attract more development activities in the County.
