Drama as MCAs storm out of a Lake Region Economic Bloc meeting

There was drama when Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) secretariat joint sensitization meeting comprising of the MCAs and strategic stakeholders in a Kisii hotel was disrupted after the MCAs protested over what they termed as breach of protocol. The MCAs Led by Samwel Apoko claimed the idea of first blessing the County Executive committee members and Chief Officers before them was humiliating. Speaker David Kombo’s effort to calm the meeting was futile until County governor James Ongwae arrived 30 minutes later when calm was restored. The 14 Lake Region counties are intending to have a common economic agenda to improve the region’s economy. The governor urged the MCAs to put aside their differences and pass the bill when it will be tabled in the assembly. The bloc intends to develop policies and programmes which must be passed by all counties aimed at widening and enhancing cooperation among the member counties in economic, industrial and research fields for their mutual benefit of the region’s population.
