THE Director of Public Prosecutions has directed police to arrest a man accused of defiling his six-year-old stepdaughter.
The Coast CID coordinator has also been instructed to appoint two senior officers to investigate the crime, which allegedly happened in Bamburi on Monday evening.
“I have appointed Saidi Wamotsa-senior principal prosecution, and Alice Ochola-prosecution counsel, to work with your team to ensure the culprit is brought to justice,” Assistant DPP Alexander Muteti said in a letter dated July 15.
The girl’s mother had visited the assistant DPP’s office and said the suspect is still a free man.
“The suspect is still communicating with her and thus, her fear is, to say the least, informed and justified,” Muteti said.
He said the woman told them the matter has not received the attention it deserves from officers.
