A group of the Dock Workers Union has called for a special conference on August 15 to elect new officials.
The group, led by Geoffrey Mareko, posted circulars all over the Mombasa port.
Mareko said new officials have to be elected as some have been sacked while the remaining ones are incompetent.
The officials were among 28 workers sacked by the KPA management last month for participating in a strike.
However, DWU secretary general Simon Sang said there is no leadership vacuum.
Section 31 of the Labour Relations Act provides that an official of the union need not be an employee at the present time.
