Divers retrieve two boys’ bodies from a dam in Trans Nzoia

The bodies of two boys who drowned in a dam in Amogoro ward of Waitaluk of Trans Nzoia County on Friday evening have been retrieved.

The County Director of Disaster Management, Mr. Ronald Masindano pointed out that the bodies were retrieved by Red Cross divers in collaboration with the Kitale Police and the villagers over the weekend.

Mr. Masindano said the two boys drowned as they swam at about 7 PM. He disclosed that Amagoro water dam is one of the 20 dams which dot the county.

The executive however lamented that water dams which provide most of the drinking water to wananchi in the county are not secured by a perimeter fence thus exposing them to pollution and other inherent risks.

“Over 15 people have drowned in these vital water dams in the past one year,” he complained.
