Deputy governor opposes new ICT executive in Nyandarua

The appointment of sacked county secretary Frank Muchina as ICT executive is illegal and unconstitutional, Nyandarua Deputy Governor Waithaka Mwangi has said.

He said the executive position was not advertised.

“The appointment of the county secretary in the first place was null and void as the law of competitiveness was not followed,” Mwangi said.

He was addressing the press in Engineer, Kinangop, on Sunday.

Mwangi said the panel that questioned and vetted Muchina was illegally constituted.

“The sacking of the county secretary was long overdue and the move to appoint him as the county executive in charge of ICT is also questionable,” he said.

Mwangi, who has in the recent past fallen out with Muchina, said he will raise the issue of the new appointment with the governor.

“I’m grateful the governor has realised his mistakes and is slowly rectifying them,” he said.

On Friday, Governor Daniel Waithaka reshuffled his executive committee.

He named two executives, revoked the appointment of the county secretary and replaced him with Martin Irungu.

Muchina had been in office for about six months.

He transferred Education executive Peter Macharia to the County Public Service Board and replaced him with Eddah Wanjiru.

Waithaka sacked suspended Roads and Public Works executive Charles Chiuri and appointed legal adviser Kamau Muthanwa in his stead.
