Competence and professionalism will be the guiding principles in the soon deployment of officer commanding Police Stations across the country.
The Inspector General Mr. Hilary Mutyambai observes that Police stations are the major service delivery points to the members of the public who require services.
Mr. Mutyambai was speaking to regional and formation commanders from across the country at his Jogoo house boardroom.
The IG, accompanied by his Deputy Inspector Generals, Edward Mbugua of Kenya Police and Noor Gabow of Administration Police Services together with the Director- Directororate of Criminal Investigations Mr. George Kinoti, said, the next phase of Police Reforms will go on as planned and asked commanders to provide full support as before.
He says, officer commanding various Police Stations together with their deputies will be picked from across the services based on their performances.
Mr. Mutyambai cautioned that any officer who may be found indulging in corruption practices in the course of their duties will not be allowed to continue serving in the service.
He promised to enhance knowledge and skills of officers through frequent trainings on various aspects of security provision to effectively and efficiently manage emerging crimes.
Mr. Mutyambai reminded officers that they need to remain apolitical and serve all wananchi without fear or favour.
The IG reiterated his commitment to decentralize the National Police Service Airwing with a view to provide quick response and surveillance services whenever there was urgent need especially in operation areas.
