The residents of Dabaso Ward in Kilifi County have decried the poor state of roads and other infrastructure in the area.
Led by Dabaso Ward Representative, Emmanuel Changawa, the residents accused national and county government officers of failing to discharge their duties as required and called on them to pull up their socks.
Changawa said roads in the area were in deplorable conditions but the concerned authorities had not heeded calls to improve them, something that was worrying the residents.
We notified the Kenya Urban Roads Authority on the poor state of roads in this area but nothing has been done, Changawa said.
He was speaking to journalists on Monday when he led residents in filling up potholes on some of the affected roads in the area.
Justine Kitsao, an actor in the tourism industry, blamed the dwindling tourism sector in Watamu and Dabaso on the poor infrastructure, which he said contributed to insecurity.
Poor infrastructure contributes to insecurity and inaccessibility to tourist attraction sites, Kitsao said and thanked the residents who had turned up for the exercise.
