CONTROVERSIAL KENYA-BORN LAWYER DEPORTED FROM DUBAI TO CANADA

NAIROBI– Controversial Kenya-born lawyer Miguna Miguna has left Dubai for Canada under the escort of United Arab Emirates (UAE) police officers, days after he was deported from Nairobi to Dubai.

Miguna, who has Canadian citizenship, managed to produce his passport to facilitate his travel, the same passport which he failed to produce at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi before he was deported.

Miguna was deported to Dubai on Thursday last week after a major scuffle at the airport here after he declined to produce his Canadian passport.

On his social media page, Miguna lauded the UAE government for facilitating his medical checkup. He was later escorted under tight security onto Air Canada flight AC 057 bound for Toronto.

The Kenyan government maintains that the self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) Kenya general is no longer a Kenyan as he has obtained Canadian citizenship as the Kenyan Constitution does not recognize dual citizenship.

Miguna has accused Raila Odinga, leader of the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) political coalition, of ignoring his plight, saying he is suffering because of his support for the opposition leader but who has failed to intervene and resolve the matter.
