Services at the Kitui County Public Relations and Communication department were Monday paralysed following the closure of the offices over yet to be divulged reasons.
Public relations officers were stranded outside the offices since morning with no idea of what transpired and without any communication from the county authorities.
Some of the officers who spoke to the media but sought anonymity for fear of reprisals disclosed that the offices where closed on Friday last week by chief of staff Mr Chrispus Ileli.
Reached for comment via phone, Mr Ileli feigned surprise saying he was not aware of the development.
Efforts to get a comment from deputy governor Dr Wathe Nzau were futile after he declined to talk to the press.
I am not going to talk to you now, I have no comment, said Dr Wathe in Kikamba as he chased the media and walked away.
The incident came hot on the heels of the departure of Governor Charity Ngilu who left for New York over the weekend.
Ngilu is reportedly attending an international women’s conference.
However speculation is rife that Ngilu’s administration is moving to reorganise the communication department with an eye on kicking out the current team that was serving his predecessor Dr. Julius Malombe.
