The Kakamega Children’s Officer (CO), Nicholas Masika has expressed dismay over failure by the county government in the area to address children issues.
The CO noted that the county government had been reluctant to engage in issues concerning children yet it led in defilement cases nationally.
Masika, who was speaking at Area Advisory Council (AAC)meeting at the Kakamega County Commissioner’s Boardroom, said that there was an average of three such cases daily in Kakamega County.
He said a children’s policy had been developed for the county by his office yet the relevant officers were seemingly not interested in the matters affecting those abused children and the vulnerable.
The CO was appalled that the county government had persistently displayed lackluster and care free response.
He contended that the county government should take the lead in handling children’s issues.
