The Rarieda Constituency Development Fund (CDF) committee has disbursed cheques worth Shs. 29.3 million to cater for education for needy students and completion of various development projects in the area.
Out of the Shs. 29.3 million, which was the part of the Shs. 107 million from the National Treasury for this financial year, Shs. 17.8m will be channeled to development projects in schools and health facilities while the remaining amount of Sh 11.5m will go to support the education of needy students.
According to the CDF Chairman, Obor Otieno, they issued the funds to the beneficiaries based on the need assessment that was conducted before awarding such cheques.
Speaking at the CDF office after the disbursement, the chairman urged the beneficiaries to prudently use the money for the purpose they are designed for.
He also called upon the students who received the bursaries to work hard in school since the CDF has slashed part of their financial constraints that has been negatively affecting their learning progress.
Otieno was flanked by the Constituency fund manager Mr Peter Achar who called on the contractors on school and health projects to deliver quality work.
