UGENYA MP David Ochieng wants chang’aa legalised in his constituency because the liquor “has never caused any death”.
He said chang’aa from Ugenya is the best as it cures typhoid and quenches “alcohol thirst”.
Ochieng said the money President Uhuru Kenyatta has set aside for rehabilitating alcoholics should be spent to set up “chang’aa industry” in Ugenya.
Speaking to the Star on the phone yesterday, Ochieng said residents are ready to supply Central Kenya drinkers with the liquor.
The MP said this will ensure no one in Central dies from drinking adulterated second-generation alcohol.
Ochieng said legal chang’aa will be sold at subsidised prices to cater for “common mwananchi”.
