Armed bandits raided Mlango village in Burat ward, Isiolo County and killed a man and a child before escaping with 200 head of cattle Wednesday.
Security officers pursued the bandits and killed three recovering 100 cattle at Ngarendare Bridge in Kipsing Ward.
Isiolo County Police Commander Charles Ontita confirmed that the bandits also escaped with another 100 cattle after dividing them into two groups.
He added that security officers were tracking down the bandits and stolen animals that were driven towards Samburu County.
Mr. Ontita said one victim was referred to Kiirua Catholic Mission Hospital for treatment while two others were treated in local dispensaries in Isiolo town.
Isiolo County Commissioner Mr. George Natembeya condemned the incident saying the recurrent raids by bandits were politically instigated.
Natembeya said the bandits had killed a number of people in the last three months.
He said the government was investigating the incident and warned those behind the thefts that their days were numbered.
