Bursary funding to need students to double, says MP

Kasipul constituency development fund and bursary kitty are set to increase in the 2018/2019 budget, area MP, Charles Ongondo Were has said.

The MP said the NG CDF allocation to the constituency would be increased from the current allocation of Sh.86m to Sh.136m in the current financial year.

This means the number of students benefiting from the bursary kitty will be increased and I intend to double the allocation to each needy student applying for the fund, he said.

The MP also said the allocation to school for infrastructure development would increase reasonably. He promised to ensure a school gets at least Sh.1 million so that all schools in the constituency have better facilities to facilitate teaching and learning and enable learners to compete effectively with others in the country.

The MP called for support from all development stakeholders to ensure his agenda for the development is fulfilled as promised to the residents during campaigns.

He was addressing constituents at Central Kasipul ward on Thursday at Warado primary school after the launch of a water project build at a cost of Sh.3.5 from the Kasipul CDF money.

He said the water was meant to serve the school and the surrounding community members of about 500 people after the water is pumped from a borehole to a water distribution point.

The MP said he has put up similar water projects in all the five wards of Kasipul constituency which he would also launch soon.

Look at the water projects as yours. Own them up and ensure there is enough security so that they will last long to help you, he said.

The MP noted that water is increasing becoming a major challenge to many households and called for protection and care of all the available water sources.
