Bungoma man commits suicide

A body of a 54 year old man was found hanging from a tree near his house at around 5.00 pm on Tuesday evening in Tobolia village, Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma County.

The body was found about 100 metres from his house.

The neighbours who expressed shock at the incident described the deceased as a hardworking and humble family man.

Bungoma OCPD Patrick Nyangaresi confirmed the incident.

The deceased, identified as George Ndiema was spotted hanging from a tree in a thicket near his home by Ndengelwa Secondary School students, as they were returning home from school at around 5 pm.

A neighbor who is also a close friend, Godfrey Makokha told KNA that he had seen and talked to the deceased, who was looking after his cattle at around 4 pm the same day, and did not notice anything unusual about him.

It is not yet clear why the father of five, who works with the Kenya Railways Corporation in Bungoma decided to take his life.

The body was moved to Bungoma district hospital mortuary.
