Bungoma Bishop Norman King’oo Moves to Machakos

Planning and logistics for installation of the new Machakos Catholic Bishop Norman King’oo is complete ahead of Saturday’s event .

Speaking to KNA the organizing committee chair Fr. Januaries Muema said the bishop is expected to arrive in Machakos Friday from Bungoma.

Januaries said the bishop will be escorted by his Bungoma faithful up to Machakos where he will be received by the committee and faithful.

Bishop King’oo has been the Bungoma bishop for the past 20 years before the Pope’s representative to Kenya on June 23 transferred him to Machakos.

Born in 1952 in Kathiani, Machakos, Bishop King’oo was ordained priest in May 1988 and was ordained bishop in 1998 with Bungoma as his first station.

The 66 years old bishop has been a priest for 10 years and bishop for 20 years.

The Machakos Catholic Diocese covers Machakos and Makueni counties, where the former bishop Antony Muheria was serving three Dioceses namely Machakos, Kitui and his current station Nyeri.

According to the organising committee, Saturday’s installation is expected to attract top leadership from the country and the region at large.
