Eight students have been arrested in connection with burning of a dormitory at Mukumu Boys High School, Kakamega County.
The students were picked up by police after they identified themselves upon returning to the school this week.
The school was closed down a fortnight ago after school’s principal Patrick Wandili, education officers, and board of management uncovered a plan to set on fire more buildings.
The students who returned to the school one form after another to take end term examinations this week, identified the culprits.
According to the teachers, the students did not want to take the examinations and had wanted to watch all world cup matches but they were allowed to do so on weekends only.
The principal said the suspects had been identified through concerted efforts of the staff and thanked the teachers for their diligence.
Confirming the arrest, Kakamega County police boss John Tanui said the students would be arraigned in court.
