A form one student was on Monday lynched by a mob after he was accused of defiling and killing a 12-year old girl at Gathumbi Village of Murang’a County.
Angry residents descended on Dancun Wakahiu after the body of the class-5 pupil, Jacinta Wambui was found dumped under his bed.
The deceased was said to have gone missing on Monday evening forcing her family to report the matter at nearby Kirogo police station.
Unconfirmed reports indicated that Wambui was called by the student as she was heading to a nearby shopping centre.
Sister of the deceased, Grace Kabura lamented that on Monday she left Wambui at home and went to work only to return in the evening and find her sister missing.
I embarked on looking for her but in vain prompting me to report her disappearance at the nearby Kirogo police station. Later children told us that they spotted Wambui with Wakahiu, she added.
She noted that the deceased visited her after they broke for April vacation saying the boy lives at neighbourhood and they were not familiar to each other.
Murang’a acting county commander of police Mr. David Kandie said it was not known what time the girl was called by the student.
Kandie said the report of her disappearance was made at Kirogo police station after 8 pm and search mounted.
