Shock and fear gripped residents of Ngurueni Village of Murang’a County after the body of a 47-year old man was found dumped in a nappier grass farm.
The body of James Karoki was found dumped a few meters from his home on Sunday after he reportedly went missing for three days.
His father, Charles Mugoya, lamented that his son, who was a casual worker in Kiriani market, did not return home from work on Wednesday.
We tried to search for him on Thursday and Friday in vain and on Saturday, I went to report at Kiriani police station, said Mugoya.
Karoki had last been seen taking beer in a local pub but reportedly left at around 9pm.
The body of the father of three who lost his wife three years ago was spotted by a villager who went to cut nappier grass for her cows.
The deceased had no physical injury and besides the body, there was a pair of male underpants while his trouser was rolled up to knees and residents suspected that the deceased could have been sodomized before being killed.
The residents decried increased killings in the area lamenting that this year alone, four people have been killed.
They called upon the police to beef up security, hasten investigations and arrest those involved in the criminal activities.
Confirming the death, Kiriaini OCPD Charles Mutua told the residents to stop speculating on the cause of the death as it has not been established.
Mutua said the man could have died from heavy drinking and that the locals should wait for postmortem results.
The body was moved to Kiriani mission hospital mortuary.
