The body of a 15 year old boy who drowned while swimming in the Emsoo dam in Keiyo North Sub County on 2nd this month has finally been retrieved.
Isaac Korir one of the divers who was involved in the search of the body said he had to call for more divers after failing to get the body despite spending a whole day in the dam.
Korir told reporters at the dam that it took the combined efforts of other divers to finally get the body which had been stuck in one of the trees inside the water this morning.
This came as a relief to friends and relatives who have been camping at the dam since the boy went missing.
The County Executive Committee member for environment Simeon Kiplagat who was present when the body was retrieved called on parents to caution their children against swimming in the various dams in the county to avoid such sad incidents.
He said while some of the dams are fenced many including Emsoo dam are yet to be fenced thus posing a risk to residents. “We have however talked to some of our development partners and I am
optimistic that they will help us fence this dam,” he told the mourners.
Timothy Kibor, a class 8 pupil had visited his relatives from Kapsowar before he met his death. His clothes were still lying where he left them before he took the deadly dive.
