Some 2,000 boda boda riders in Kiambu have received reflector jackets and umbrellas from Thika Township MCA Kennedy Mwangi.
On Wednesday, Mwangi said the reflectors will bear the rider’s name, mobile number and their area of operation.
He said the jackets will distinguish genuine riders from thugs.
“We’ve heard many cases of riders committing felonies in Thika town,” he said.
Last year, a middle-aged woman was shot dead by a gang on a boda boda.
Mwangi said the jackets will reduce road accidents as motorists and pedestrians will spot them easily.
He said the umbrella will shield the rider and customers from rain and the scorching sun.
