On July 14, 1789 French citizens stormed the Bastille prison in Paris, sparking off the French Revolution.
Since then the day has been marked with lavish celebrations by the French all over the world.
The official celebrations for Bastille Day in Kenya were hosted at home of the French ambassador Reacute;mi Mareacute;chaux in Kabarnet Gardens, Nairobi on Tuesday night.
The ambassador who spoke in Kiswahili lauded the long and cordial relationship between Kenya and France over the years.
National Assembly deputy speaker Dr Joyce Laboso who was the guest of honour spoke in French and passed felicitations to the President Franccedil;ois Hollande and the people of France.
At the fete were Kenya Association of Manufacturers CEO Betty Maina, Kisumu Water and Sewerage Company’s managing director Eng David Onyango, Total Kenya MD Ada Eze, Vivo Energy marketing manager Mark Senteu and nominated MP Isaac Mwaura.
