A section of Baringo leaders have lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto for appointing Simon Chelugui as the new Cabinet Secretary for Water and Sanitation.
Led by Baringo Jubilee Branch Chairman Peter Kipnyekwei, the leaders said the appointment demonstrated the confidence President Kenyatta has in the people of Baringo and urged him to consider awarding the region another senior position like a Principal Secretary.
Speaking to the press in Kabarnet town , Mr. Kipnyekwei said the county was united in expressing their gratitude also for the appointment of former Labour CS Phyllis Kandie as the new ambassador to Belgium, Luxemburg and the European Union, terming the two appointments a great honour.
They pledged to support the government in its development pursuits especially the President Kenyatta’s main four agenda of food security, affordable housing, manufacturing and affordable healthcare as he prepares to leave a legacy in the coming four years.
I want to thank the President for nominating one from our soil to be CS for Water and Sanitation but because the area is big, we wish to get more slots in the remaining unnamed posts, said Kipnyekwei.
Wesley Kiprong , the Jubilee branch secretary while commending the president for forming an inclusive cabinet asked him to consider reappointing former Water and Irrigation principal secretary Prof Fred Segor when filling the remaining slots saying Prof Segor did exemplary work in the water docket should be reappointed.
Kiprong said he was optimistic that the President and his deputy shall appoint more leaders from the region to serve in government.
Kabarnet Bodaboda chairman Isaac Kibet called on the President to nominate more youth from the county whom he observed were qualified and capable to hold any office in government.
