A Two day symposium under the Auspices of Africa Center of Excellence in Phytochemicals, Textiles and Renewable Energy (ACE II PTRE) and Moi University commenced on 29th April 2019 at Kisumu hotel. The workshop, done annually, brings together regional and national project partners that work in tandem with ACE II PTRE and serves as a reflecting point for the strides made together in ensuring the World Bank funded Project ball rolls successfully. The invited participants in the symposium included Moi University Council, management, partners and ACE II PTRE steering committee.
The workshop began with remarks from Moi UniversityVice – Chancellor Prof. Isaac S. Kosgey,who welcomed the participants and commended them for the milestones they had made since the inception of the project. Speaking, Prof. Kosgey averred that the University Management would continue offering support to the project notingthat the success of the project would serve as a magnet for attraction of funding from other awarding bodies.
In the same breath, the Vice Chancellor highlighted how the University was on course in re-aligning its strategic plan, master plan, programsand activities be an all-inclusive university in research, innovation and enterprise.ACE II KIsumu WOrkshop2
Addressing the Audience, Moi University Council Chairman, Dr. Jeremiah N. Koshal, reiterated the support of the University Council to the project and further conjured the members of the ACE II PTRE project team to ensure prudent management of project funds. –
The day progressed with Prof. Ambrose Kiprop, Center Leader ACE II PTRE and Dean, School of Biological and Physical Sciences, making a presentation on the ACE II PTRE updates. The second day entailed a visit to water Hyacinth Biogas Production Unit at Dunga Beach in Kisumu.
