A team of expert divers has been called from Nairobi to help retrieve the body of 19 year- old � form two student who drowned while swimming at Mukuyuni dam in Makueni Sub County on Sunday evening.
According to Makueni County Red Cross Manager, Robert Muli, the team of expert comprises of three divers from Red Cross headquarters Nairobi, who were expected to start the search for the body by noon today.
Muli said the student, identified as Benson Wambua Mbwika, drowned in the muddy dam after he went swimming with two other students from Makongo Secondary school.
The boy was said to have become too tired to swim as he waded through the muddy waters leading to his drowning.
Efforts to use local divers bore no fruit yesterday but today, we have expert divers from Nairobi fully equipped with oxygen cylinders to try and retrieve the body of the student and search will kick off Monday midday, said Muli, while speaking to Kenya News Agency (KNA) on the phone.
KNA has established that a team of Red Cross, Kenya police and members of the community are at the scene of the incident hoping body of the young man is retrieved.
