Police in Kisii are holding 25 people for allegedly being in the country illegally.
Speaking to the press in his office in Kisii town today, area OCPD, Francis Nguli said the foreigners who are suspected to be from Burundi, Tanzania and Rwanda countries have no permits to be in the country.
He said they are undergoing screening and profiling at the Ministry of Information and urged residents to be vigilant and report any abnormal happenings in their surroundings.
The OCPD appealed to residents who have friends and relatives from outside the country to follow due process in having them in the country, lest they be arrested too for assisting them commit the crime.
Nguli said police were also working with stakeholders to rid the area of illicit brew and cautioned any administrators who will be found colluding with illegal elements that the law will catch up with them.
He appealed to the judiciary to have more deterrent punishment for offenders in a bid to have those engaging in the activity to change to productive businesses.
He applauded the residents for cooperating with police in eliminating gambling machines from the area completely.
