The 2022 politics was at play when Kanu chairman Gedion Moi and national assembly majority leader; Aden Duale graced two separate functions in Garissa County.
Duale who is a known die hard supporter of Deputy President, William Ruto was in Kasha Balambala constituency during the thanksgiving ceremony of county CEC for agriculture Issa Yarrow, while Gedion was in Bura east where he was the chief guest during the homecoming party of Fafi MP, Abdikarim Arte.
Leaders from the two meetings did not spare the opportunity to throw jabs at each side.
Gedion was accompanied by nine (9) KANU leaders, among them, WiIliam Kamket, who told off Duale for opposing constitutional changes.
Kamket said all the leaders elected on Kanu ticket will support Gedion’s presidential bid, come 2022 noting that he was the right bet.
But Duale who led his colleagues including two Kanu MPs, Mohamed Dahiye (Dadaab) and Mohamed Hire, (Lagdera) said the pastoral community had already made their mind to support Ruto.
He said the presidency is not a dynasty and hereditary for candidates to succeed their fathers.
Kenyans will elect you depending on whatever you have done to Kenyans for these five years. We will ensure that President Uhuru Kenyatta lives behind a legacy, Duale said
He said that the Baringo Senator will not attract any vote even from his Baringo County.
William Ruto’s father was a peasant and next elections are not who your father is, but what you have done for Kenyans, he added
Duale’s function was attended by Garissa Governor Ali Korane, MPs Mohamed Hire (Lagdera), Mohamed Dahiye (Dadaab), Fatuma Gedi (Wajir women rep), Abdi Omar Shurie (Balambala) and Ahmed Qolosho (Wajir west).
Qolosho claimed the Baringo Senator has done nothing in terms of development, but only hides under the name of his father adding that he has not been productive in the senate.
Garissa Governor Ali Korane said it’s too early to be in campaign mood for 2022 politics adding that when time comes; they will go back to the people for proper direction
It’s not possible and not fair to our people to be in campaign mood for another four years, he said
