17 FEARED DEAD IN KENYA AS BUS PLUNGES INTO RIVER AFTER COLLISION WITH TRUCK

NAIROBI– Seventeen people are feared to have died while 43 are injured after a bus heading to Nairobi from Kendu Bay plunged into a river five kilometers from Narok town, about 140 kilometres west of here, Tuesday.

Confirming the accident, Narok County Commissioner George Natembea said the bus plunged into the river after a head on collision with a truck of a Chinese construction company. Among the dad was the driver of the bus.

The driver of the truck who disappeared after the accident is being sought by the police.

The bus, which is owned by a Savings and Credit Co-operative Organization (Sacco), was travelling from Kendu Bay in South Nyanza Country to Nairobi.

The passengers who survived the accident were rushed to Narok referral hospital. Four of them are in critical condition.
