Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko has refuted claims by the opposition that his office is shielding Devolution Secretary Anne Waiguru from prosecution saying his decisions are based on evidence and law.
Mr Tobiko asked the political elite to stop politicising the legal process adding that this only serves to defeat justice.
His response comes after Tuesday’s allegations by Cord leader Raila Odinga that the prosecution of Devolution principal secretary Peter Mangiti and National Youth Service director-general Nelson Githinji over a Sh695 million scam in the agency was a cover up to shield the CS.
“Allegations of compromise and other ulterior considerations by my office in the execution of my high public duty are completely baseless and unwarranted,” Mr Tobiko said.
