Some teachers’ unions are letting go of workers. This is because the Teachers’ Service Commission stopped the deduction of money for unions from teachers’ salaries until it completes what it described as an audit to ascertain membership of the unions.
The Teachers’ Service Commission declined to disclose when the audit would be completed. This leaves many questions unanswered.
The State must ensure that whatever it does will benefit students, not just those proudly and highly paid by it.
