The accused, who included three foreigners, were arraigned on Tuesday and charged with three counts including publishing inaccurate information regarding Tanzania’s presidential election results.
They denied the charges and were remanded after the prosecution objected to bail on public interest grounds.
The volunteers were Mashinda Edwin Mtei, Julius Mwita, Frederick Eddie Fussi, Julius Mwonga Matei, Meshack Carlos Mlawa, Anisa Nicholas Rulanyaga, Jose Mavinga Nimi and Kim Hyunwook.
