Roysambu residents protested against alleged grabbing of a three-and-a-half acre of land, which they had set aside for public facilities.
The Thome 5 residents, led by area ward representative Peter Warutere, said the Thome 5 Farmers’ Company had reserved the land for construction of a police post, a school, a chief’s camp and a playground, but a private developer had subdivided the land and started erecting structures on part of it.
The Thome 5 Resident’s Association secretary Kimani Mbugua said the developer had obtained a fake title deed.
Roysambu sub-county administrator Charles Mabonga ordered cessation of all construction works and asked residents not to destroy any property.
He invited all parties in the case to meet him on Wednesday to solve the matter. The Thome 5 residents were led by the area ward representative Peter Warutere. They pulled down two signposts that had been placed on the property.
